Heather Paxton: Turning Passion into Purpose as Voices of Hope's Newest CHW
Voices of Hope is thrilled to celebrate Heather Paxton, a dedicated and compassionate graduate of our Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Program. Heather enrolled in our program through the Susquehanna Workforce Center, driven by a deep-rooted passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Throughout her comprehensive training, Heather demonstrated unwavering dedication and enthusiasm. She successfully completed both classroom instruction and an immersive 40-hour practicum, gaining invaluable hands-on experience working directly with peers and participants. During her internship, Heather's exceptional skills in health education, patient advocacy, and community outreach were evident. Her genuine engagement with participants showcased her natural ability to connect and support those navigating complex health and social challenges.
Heather describes her experience as one that deeply shaped her understanding of the critical issues affecting underserved populations. "I have a passion for helping others because it gives me a sense of purpose," she explains, drawing inspiration from the words of Mahatma Gandhi:
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
Recognizing her extraordinary commitment, passion, and demonstrated abilities, Voices of Hope was proud to welcome Heather to our team as a full-time Community Health Worker.
