🚦 A Huge Thank You to Our Highway Heroes! 🚦
Last weekend on, September 20th, 2025 was an incredible day out in the community as we came together for our Adopt-a-Highway clean-up, and we couldn’t be more proud or grateful. 💪🛣️
We had 10 amazing people join the effort — a dedicated group made up of Peers, Voices of Hope volunteers, participants from Project Chesapeake, and residents from local recovery houses. The teamwork, unity, and purpose we witnessed today was nothing short of inspiring. It was a powerful reminder of what happens when recovery and community come together with a shared goal: to make a difference.
A Cleaner Community, A Stronger Bond
Not only did our team collect an impressive 15 full bags of trash, but the impact went deeper than just tidying up the roadside.
While cleaning, we discovered a spot we’d never seen before: an abandoned parking lot area tucked away off the road. Today, with fresh eyes and renewed determination, we stepped into that new location — and what we found was shocking.
There, scattered across the ground, were dozens of used syringes.
This moment was sobering, but it was also empowering. It reminded us of the urgency of our mission, the importance of harm reduction, and the need for continued visibility and support for those still in active use or at risk. We didn’t turn away — we cleaned it up. Together. Safely. With purpose.
🌟 Hope in Action
That day was more than just picking up trash. It was about showing up, side by side, and reclaiming our community — piece by piece, choice by choice. It was about seeing what others might miss, and being willing to do something about it.
To everyone who joined us: Thank you. Your time, your energy, and your presence made a difference. You are a living example of what recovery in action looks like.
💜 Why It Matters
At Voices of Hope, we believe that true recovery is about more than healing the individual — it's about uplifting the community. Days like today prove that we are stronger together, and that hope isn't just a feeling — it's something we do.
Whether you picked up trash, found a safe way to clean a hazardous site, offered encouragement, or simply showed up — you were part of something bigger today.
With deepest gratitude,
The Voices of Hope Team
